November 1- Blessed and Nano Pablo

Wake up, wake up, wake up. Its the first of the month.

Are there any other Bone Thugs N’ Harmony fans here? No? No? Is this thing on? Check 1, 2.

Anyway, it is November 1st and I’ve decided to challenge myself and try that whole 30 days of blogging thing for Nanopablo or what ever it is called.

National Blog Posting Month. NaBloPoMo. That’s it. I always throw “Pablo” in there when I try to say it. Go figure.

Today I’m going to blog about blessings. Because I’ve been blessed, my friends. B-lessed.

I’ve discovered that posting your blessings online is not all the rage these days. I’m lucky to get 4 “likes” if I post some good news. However, if I post about punching a Wal-Mart clerk in the jugular for bagging my bread beneath my spaghetti sauce, well, the likes reach triple digits. I’ve concluded that it’s hard for people to be happy for others. That’s messed up, yo.

I don’t post “blessings” with the intent to brag. I dislike braggers a great deal. We all know that “homemade” chocolate icing is really Duncan Hines. Shut up. Bragging is annoying.

When I spread my good news with others, I do it in a humble “thank you very much” kind of way. I think its great to share your happiness. I’m cool with giving a “like” on social media because your kid made honor roll or because you finally located that chin hair and plucked the crap out of it. I’m proud of you. And for you. Like.

So, here’s a quick rundown of my blessings. You don’t have to like them, or be excited for me, but I’m happy to share them anyway. But totally not in a braggy way. Braggers suck.

I was booted from Blogger Idol, yes. That’s not the happiest news in the galaxy, but another door soon opened for me. I’ve been asked to write a short story for a very reputable publication. I also received news that a website that rhymes with Snuffington Roast will be publishing one of my blog posts in coming weeks. I also got a shout out on The Humor Daily yesterday. My writing life is going well, and I’m thrilled. You don’t have to be thrilled for me, but if you’re a good person, you will be.

I’m kidding.

Kind of.

Secondly, my husband and I are the proud owners of something that we’ve prayed about for years. YEARS!  I can’t divulge exactly what it is at this time- but we are blessed. That’s the only word to describe it. Not lucky. But blessed. By God.

Thirdly, we didn’t get a single toothbrush in our Halloween bags last night. Considering I just got a boatload of them in bulk at Costco, it’s a good thing.

That’s all I have for now. Please stick with my blog for the *entire month* of November. I’ve got some really funny posts cooked up. Aside from blessings, I’ve been fortunate enough to witness some awkward situations, silly situations and absolutely absurd and ridiculous situations lately. They will all translate into stellar blog posts.

I swear it.

Happy November.

See you tomorrow.

  1. It’s important to share your blessings. I think the only people that think you would be “braggy” are those who are unhappy with how their lives are going right now. When people share something good that’s happened to them, it pushes me to work harder. Thanks also for sharing your disappointments too. Sometimes with social media we only see the good stuff and that makes people depressed and get into the “why me”, showing others that when one door closes another one really does open is awesome. Keep on testifying girl!

Sorry you got the hook from Blogger Idol but just getting on is impressive. Also a short story and the snuffington roast is nothing to sneeze at. Love your blessings. I am happy when I get a few comments on my site. If I ever reach your level, I will be thrilled, and if I just get the few people who have consistently followed me, that is awesome also. Good luck with the Pablo posts, I am attempting it also but I will call mine pedro.
